Preventative care is the most important service we can offer a patient. Dental disease is not just a mouth problem, it can have implications to a person’s overall health. Diagnosing dental disease and educating patients about ways of prevention starts at your first visit. A radiographic exam using digital x-rays not only greatly reduces radiation exposure but also allows for the diagnosis of infections in bone, decay, bone loss and visualization of anatomical structures.
A comprehensive clinical exam, including periodontal exam, is performed to diagnose not only problems with the teeth, but also the surrounding gums and bone.
A head and neck exam and oral cancer exam is then performed to screen patients for any anomalies. Early Detection of oral cancer makes it much easier to treat. For more information about head and neck cancer click here.
We will then explain, in detail, your current condition and discuss what options are available to restore your mouth to a healthy condition. If appropriate, a dental cleaning will also be performed at this time.
